چکیده

Fibrous dysplasia; Nasal cavity; Skull base; Endoscopic sinus surgery Abstract Fibrous dysplasia is an uncommon benign tumour in the nasal cavity. Due to adjacent vital soft tissue structures surgery is often the treatment of choice. We report a rare case of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia of the mandible and the ethmoid bone including nasal bony septum with intracranial expansion, and include a review of the literature. The tumour was successfully resected using a combined transnasal and craniotomy approach. Fibrous dysplasia is a rare benign tumour in the head and neck region, which often limits its growth during the follow-up period. Careful monitoring of the patient is necessary because in some rare cases there can be severe symptoms due to the growth of the tumour, which are indications of immediate surgery in the head and neck region. 2015 Egyptian Society of Ear, Nose, Throat and Allied Sciences. Fibrous dysplasia of the inferior turbinate.

Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a benign skeletal disorder in which abnormally overgrowing bony lesion replaces normal bone. FD can affect one bone (monostotic form) or multiple bones (polyostotic form). The craniofacial bones are involved in about 10% of subjects with monostotic FD. However, its occurrence in the sinonasal tract is very rare. We report a case of monostotic FD developed only in the i...

Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia Mimicking Multiple Bone Metastases in a Patient with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ

Whole-body bone scans and whole body (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomographic/computed tomographic scans are sensitive for detecting bone metastasis in patients with breast cancer. However, it is often difficult to discriminate between bone metastasis and other nonmalignant bone lesions. Polyostotic fibrous dysplasia is a rare disorder characterized by the osteoid medullary cavity...
